Welcome Visitors

This wiki describes and explores the current and future of the css used by federated wiki. Here we experiment with Beautiful Wiki, examing old experiments but in particular exploring what we can do with Modern CSS, Static Site Publishing and with a new interfaces to wiki - such as Mobile Wiki and Desktop Wiki - both of which require new forms of interface and user interaction.

This site is mosty confined currently to my previous work, and unpublished work which we aim to start uploading here. In particular this unpublished work will be with regard to the Mobile UX and Desktop UX, both of which have been given some impetus because of the need to have such interfaces for the Hitchhikers' Project. This site is an example of the Wide Welcome Visitors technique - though this is more effective when crafter together with an SVG Contents Map. As a quick and dirty example see how the Interactive SVG behaves below.

You can see from this example, that page resizing is dymamic as we have set the width of the first miller-column to 100% of the currenlty displayed viewport using the sytax `width = 100vw;`. To be precise we need to tweak that to take into account the border and margin - so we use the following custom css:

#welcome-visitors { background: lightgreen; width: calc(100vw - 16px); /* Adjust based on total left + right margin/border/padding */ flex: none; /* Override flex properties */ } #welcome-visitors .journal { visibility: hidden; /* hide journal only on first page */ }
